Meet The Family

Whorley’s Ridge began at home — the way most meaningful things do.

I fell in love with making things by hand and learning how to rely a little less on what could be bought off a shelf. What started with a desire to slow down and be more intentional gradually became a love for traditional skills, simple ingredients, and creating things our family could actually use. Before long, our home began filling with jars of herbs and infused oils, handmade soaps curing on the shelf, and all the little pieces of what would eventually become our home apothecary.

My husband, Rob, brought a deep love of self-sufficiency and homesteading into our lives. He had raised chickens before and carried so much knowledge about living intentionally and relying on yourself. Together, we all fell in love with that way of life. There was something freeing about it — about feeding our chickens, gathering eggs, growing what we could, and realizing how beautiful the quiet moments could be, like a hen hopping onto your shoulder without a care in the world.

Rob spent time in the military, and since then has poured himself into learning — building knowledge, skills, and purpose. That eventually led him to blacksmithing, where raw steel, fire, and a whole lot of patience are turned into something made to last. From hand-forged knives and tools to one-of-a-kind goods for the home, every piece is made right here at Whorley’s Ridge, one at a time.

Watching him fill his life with intention helped shape our family’s decision to slow down and truly enjoy the time we have. Choosing a slower life has been one of the best decisions we’ve ever made.

Whorley’s Ridge carries our family name because this work is personal. It’s run by Rob and me, with our daughter Addy growing up right alongside it and learning that there is still value in knowing how things are grown, made, and cared for.

Today, Whorley’s Ridge is a little bit homestead, a little bit forge, and a little bit old-fashioned home apothecary. I create small-batch artisan soaps, body care, beard and hair oils, herbal salves, infused oils, and other simple remedies using thoughtfully chosen ingredients. Rob works at the forge creating hand-forged knives, tools, and goods meant to be used, carried, and passed down.

Quality matters deeply to us, not just for how our products turn out, but for how they make people feel. We don't take shortcuts. We don't rush the process. Whether it's a batch of soap, herbs slowly infusing into oil, or a piece of steel being shaped over the fire, we enjoy the work and the beauty that comes from creating something with intention.

Handmade still matters. It connects you to where your goods come from, what went into them, and the people whose hands made them. To me, slow living means savoring every second of life, because it moves far too quickly to rush through.

When you support Whorley’s Ridge, you’re supporting a family, a homestead, and a way of life rooted in care, tradition, self-sufficiency, and gratitude.

Thank you for being here.
I hope you’ll follow along, shop with us, and become part of our story.
